Came for technical help; found deeper insights.
“My original reason for reaching out to her was really hopefully to get some sort fitness program. I need technical help, or, what is it that I’m missing. In fact, it was a lot deeper than that. That was the part that had fundamental shifts in how I look at my own thoughts.”
Part 1
My name is Kiley, and I was sort of on my own little personal fitness journey but I was kind of at this stage where I really wanted push my limits and I just started following her on Instagram because she is so impressive. I was just like, wow, I reached out to her on several occasions just to talk about where I was at and things I was interested in accomplishing and just that I admired her journey so much. And I wanted to sort of reach a new level, my original reason for reaching out to her was really hopefully to get some sort fitness program or thinking, like, I need technical help, or, what is it that I'm missing in fact, it was a lot deeper than that. That was the part that had fundamental shifts in how I look at my own thoughts.
Part 2
You know, she just took me to a starting point that I didn't even know that I needed to go to. She kind of brought me back into checking in on my own belief system. And I had some bit of a setback, a physical setback, and so those are the places that I think that she like, you know, I would say she really supported me.
I had thought I had a lot of self limiting beliefs that I didn't know I had. And she really made me kind of reflect on my thoughts and beliefs around certain things until I realized, like, oh, I have some sort of belief system that's in there that's like, fearful X-Y-Z.
And he kind of just walked me through, like, you know what? We're going to try this one day. It was game changing for me because I got there, there was a whole world there. There was a whole world of people.
Part 3
I think the other piece that was just really important is yeah, just kind of being in touch with understanding my emotions around different things, like where I'm getting anxiety around things. This is the funny part. I happened to have a trip to go to Kathmandu in Nepal. And I didn't really train properly for this or anything, but what I appreciated from her was really her ability to identify, like, what are the components that would cause me to have anxiety and really look at and talk myself through some of the things that were making me anxious and how important, basically, meditative practice is for me.
I believe in that sort of thing. I just never related it to my fitness and my ability to live in the moment. How those are things are innately connected to performance.
